  7. What is reflective sheeting?
Reflective sheeting is used in the manufacture of traffic signs to make the signs reflect light. Ther are four basic types of reflective sheeting. Engineer Grade is an enclosed lens reflective sheeting that was introduced in the 1950. It meets ASTM D 4956 Spec Type I standards. This reflective background material is commonly used in areas with low traffic volume, low speeds and with little competing light. High Intensity Grade sheeting is an encapsulated lens or microprismatic reflective sheeting that exceeds ASTM D 4956 Spec Type III standards. This sheeting is extremely reflective at wide angles to approaching traffic and was first introduced in 1970. Diamond Grade incorporates the cutting edge of reflective sheeting technology. It is highly reflective, durable, and visible at wide angles. Signs are highly visible, even in visually complex nighttime roadway environments. Diamond Grade reflective sheeting exceeds ASTM D 4956 Spec Type IX standards.

  8. What is a "proof" or "layout"?
A proof is a way of ensuring that we have set your type accurately and that everything is positioned according to your requirements. Typically, we will produce a proof which will be sent to you online or printed on paper which can be faxed or viewed in our offices.

  9. What types of construction signs do you offer?
Signs and Blanks offers a complete line of both permanent and temporary construction and work zone signs. These signs are available to you on the following substrates: durable aluminum, lightweight Dibond, or convenient roll-up material. All construction zone signs are NCHRP-350 compliant. All of our work zone signs are available with fluorescent orange reflective sheeting for increased visibility and consturction work zone site safety. A variety fo temporary sign stands for both rigid and roll-up signs are available.

We offer a complete line of u-channel, round, and square sign posts. We stock these sign posts in both green and galvanized finishes. Custom and decorative sign posts are avaiable.

  11. Why do I need to look at a proof if I've already given you everything I need to have done?
We employ human beings to produce your work and, last time we checked, humans are not perfect. Your approval on the final proof is assurance that you have looked over every aspect of our work and approve it as accurate. It benefits everyone if errors are caught in the proofing process rather than after the job is completed and delivered.

  12. Do I still need to approve a proof if I bring my work in on disk?
It may seem like a proof wouldn't be needed in this case but it really is. Output devices process digital information using a variety of processing languages. Your approval of the proof which we will provide assures that the output device used has correctly interpreted and processed the information you have provided.

  13. How do I go about getting an estimate from you?
Well, since you are here, we would suggest you use our online estimate request form. Otherwise, the best way to ensure that we get all the information necessary to do an accurate quote, give us a call and talk with one of our customer service representatives.
